Today we had a fun time in a local chain store - considered to be a "health food store." A father had his 3yr old boy walking beside the cart and 8month old daughter riding in the front of the cart. I commented on how lucky the children were to be growing up on Trader Joe's foods and "I bet you don't have any toxic household chemicals either." To my dismay the father said he still had a few! I could not believe my ears! Perhaps it is because the information in not as available as all of the commercials on tv and internet.
One has only to hold some of the powder detergents to feel the lye burn your skin. In addition, just read the back of some of the famous baby brands and see the ingredient Quanternium-15 which is a formaldehyde releaser! I never knew a baby that did not swallow some bath water! Furthermore, the baby skin surface area is great ratio to the body and the skin absorbs all of the formaldehyde in store shelf brands of baby products!
So for today, take care to read all ingredients. Quanternium-15 tells you there are one or more of the 30-40 trade names for formaldehyde in the product which is why the Quanternium-15 is in the product. This is a good start. There are SO many items with Quanternium-15, not just baby products!
